Please welcome the ruggedly handsome, Max Aria!

Greetings all!

I am so excited to have the sexy model/actor , Max Aria, here at my blog!  I absolutely adore using his images from on the covers I create!  He has a rugged quality that makes him perfect for the paranormal genre.

Me: Welcome to EDHGraphics, Max! I am so happy to have you. Let me start off by asking the question I am sure everyone wants to know and that is, how did you get started in the modeling profession?

Max:  I actually started in the fitness world. I was extremely active in sports when I was younger and I started reading bodybuilding magazines to learn about nutrition and workout routines. After I got injured playing football, I decided to do a bodybuilding show to satisfy my competitive spirit. I put a few photos from it on my "myspace" profile back then, and within a few weeks, I had been contacted by a few photographers in Los Angeles that worked for the magazines. It was pretty mind boggling at the time, so I came out to do a few photoshoots and see what the industry was like. After shooting for fitness photographers, I fell into doing more mainstream work and commercials.

Me: Why did you want to become a model?

Max:  The pursuit of fame and fortune, of course! Lol, kidding. Honestly, I like the idea of creating something new that won't ever be replicated--Like art. I was always creative when I was younger, and I wrote music and eventually started acting, so I like the idea of creating.

Me: You have portrayed many different types of heroes.  Is there a persona you haven’t done yet that you would like to and if you have done them all, then which persona is your favorite?

Max:  I'm really glad that superhero movies have made a huge comeback in recent years. I actually just finished playing Thor in a film called God of Thunder. It was one hero I always wanted to play, so it was awesome being able to play a version of him. I'd also really like to play Batman or Wolverine at some point. They've got an edgy energy that I tend to be drawn toward.

Me: What is your favorite all-time image of yourself?

Max:  I personally love a shot I took in Juarez, Mexico with photographer Milo800. I know it's not a typical modeling shot, but I love it! It was also very eye-opening experience crossing the border into Juarez where I was immediately met with people with AK-47's because of the drug war. I have a couple of interesting stories of being over there, but I'll save those for another day!
Hmm, now I want to hear those stories!!!! We'll need a second interview!!!

Me:  Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? What are your ultimate goals?

Max:  At this point, I have a couple of options. Recently, I've had offers to model overseas, which I'm considering, but one of my main pursuits is to further establish an acting career. I see myself as starring in several films in the coming years.

Me:  Do you find physical good looks to be more an asset or a hindrance? In what ways? How important is beauty? Is your eye for it standard or do you have your own definition?

Max:  "Good looks" are always in the eye of the beholder. I think that it's all a matter of perception. And if you shoot with the top photographers, most people will think you're "good looking" regardless!--Lol. Also, there are many different types of modeling. Most companies want to shoot people that look like an upstanding version their target demographic.. Just watch a few television commercials and see! Lots of "real-looking" relatable people. And as far as high-fashion one knows what they want! Not even them!

Me:  What is the most rewarding thing about modeling? What advice would you give to up-and-coming models?

Max:  The most rewarding thing about modeling is the ability to work with fun, creative people every day. And it's not like a 9-5 job where you do the same thing every day. You get to collaborate with people to do something completely new and unique every day.

Me:  Do you have any advice for up and coming models?

Max:  Market yourselves! Because of the internet, there are countless new opportunities of marketing. Social media, interviews, websites and blogs... Be proactive! Also, I try to stay away from the negative, but I'd suggest that you be careful to not be taken advantage of.. Luckily, I've always had a good sense of being able to "read" people to see if they were scammers.. or worse. It seems there are so many out there. Don't ever sign with an agency that wants money up front. Also, during my first meeting with a potential modeling agent, a bunch of red flags went off in my head, so I just decided to leave. Just yesterday, I found an article TMZ wrote about him being a predator with several lawsuits from his models.. Be careful! No one job or one person will make or break your career. Finally, have thick skin and don't ever take things personally. Be patient, but also persistent and proactive with whatever your goals are.

Max Aria is a laugh riot and a very fun person.  During this interview he answered a silly question about himself:

Max:  I have a crazy sense of humor and can find something funny about absolutely anything.. or nothing. It's actually gotten me in some trouble in the past. Haha, If you see me suddenly burst out into laughter for no reason, don't worry. It's just me being myself. Also, I like puppies.

HE LIKES PUPPIES!!!  I can just imagine him in a photo shoot with a bunch of puppies...sigh...

Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life with us, Max! He is so sweet!  If you would like to learn more of Max Aria and to see his portfolio, please visit the following sites:

Please welcome the marvelous and stunning model, Gezzilyn Leon!

Greetings all!

I am so excited to have model extraordinaire, Gezzilyn Leon, here at my blog!  I absolutely adore using her images from on the covers I create!  She shows powerful emotions in all of her poses and that's what separates her from the crowd.

Me: Welcome to EDHGraphics, Gezzilyn! I am so happy to have you. Let me start off by asking the question I am sure everyone wants to know and that is, how did you get started in the modeling profession?

Gezzilyn:  Thank you so much for having me, I'm also very exited to be here. Well I'll give you an answer you might be curious about; I fell into it on accident. I am an actor originally, since I was five in theater, so at 19 I felt the need for head shots and started a modeling profile to get a photographer to do it TFP (trade for prints). Once I posted the shots to entice other head shot photographers to shoot them for me, I instantly got modeling offers for other things. I was sort of shocked because I had never thought of myself as the type to be a "model" but now I realize what it takes and it's not just to look like a clothes pin on laundry day walking a runway.

Me: Why did you want to become a model?

Gezzilyn: Since I found that I enjoyed taking stills, I started to get creative and book shoots that would pay and give me images I have always wanted to see of myself. I got thrifty with my shoots. I built a great book and started working with photographers that I have looked up to for 5 to 7 years such as ALVARADO the Pin Up Artist on my own concepts. Jessica Rabbit and The Little Mermaid are my two favorites.

Me: You have portrayed many different types of heroines.  Is there a persona you haven’t done yet that you would like to and if you have done them all, then which persona is your favorite?

Gezzilyn:  I'm in the works of making my own Super Hero Calendar as a matter of fact. I'll release those details later when I'm almost finished. So far Jessica Rabbit, Aphrodite and The Little Mermaid have been my favorite personas but I am going to be doing every red headed cosplay I can. My next is Peter Pan and Merida from BRAVE.

Me: What is your favorite all-time image of yourself?

Gezzilyn: You're going to make me pick just ONE? Oh boy... That's hard. I have so many from so many GREAT photographers! This one is most popular, how about that. It's one of my faves for sure. It's even on my business card.

Me:  Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? What are your ultimate goals?

Gezzilyn:  I see myself making feature films and modeling for big novels and magazines. I want to entertain the masses. Travel around the world filming, shooting and working on my other projects outside the entertainment industry. I hope to help start new long term projects and help fund our clean energy and recycling plants around the world. With the audience I build, I believe I will shift our focus to loving the planet we live on. She needs a little TLC.

Me:  Do you find physical good looks to be more an asset or a hindrance? In what ways? How important is beauty? Is your eye for it standard or do you have your own definition?

Gezzilyn:  Beauty to me, is radiance from within. Period.

Me:  What is the most rewarding thing about modeling? What advice would you give to up-and-coming models?

Gezzilyn:  The most rewarding thing is enjoying what you are doing and making memories captured in frames. Making people smile for any reason. Inspiring others to live their dreams and never let anyone tell them they can't. Receiving messages from those who find motivation and inspiration through my passion in my work feels like ten thousand sun beams bursting out of my heart.

And now for something silly! :-D

Me:  So, what is your favorite...? And why?

I hate to pick favorites because I enjoy so many things but I'll try...

Dessert? Home made Strawberry/Berry Shortcake Yum!

Place to be? So far... In the ocean in my mermaid tail.... Preferably the Hawaiian beaches. You own a mermaid tail?  That is so cool :-)

Book? James Patterson's 'First To Die' It was so good I spent 3 days and nights reading it cover to cover, barely putting it down. Wow, that's on my TBR list now!

Movie? The Little Mermaid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetle Juice.  Love those!

Holiday/Time of Year? Halloween, even though every day is Halloween for me I love to live in a world of fantasy when everyone participates. I don't like all the attention ALL the time... LOL Halloween is fantastic!

Me: What is your perfect date?

Gezzilyn:  Anything that is unconventional... Get creative guys... Girls deserve a little spontaneity. Especially girls like me, not the dinner and a movie type.

Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life with us, Gezzilyn! She is so sweet!  If you would like to learn more of Gezzilyn Leon and to see her portfolio, please visit the following sites: LookBook
Keep in mind, readers, some of the pictures are racy :-)
Below are a few of my favorite covers that I have used Gezzilyn on!
And now for the special Gezzilyn-centric bundle!  The bundle includes Facebook banner, e-book cover, and 3D cover for just $50.00!!  Only one available, so act fast!!!

Next week, the sexy Max Aria will be featured!  Don't miss this bad boy! :-D  Thank you for stopping by!

Please welcome the beautiful and talented model, Jax Turyna!!!!!

Greetings all!

It's finally that time!  The beautiful and talented model Jax Turyna is here!  I am so glad she was able to take time out of her very busy schedule to answer questions and just shoot the breeze :-D  If you don't recognize her name, I'm sure you will recognize her face.  I have used many Jax images on the covers I have created and I'm not the only one.  As a cover artist, I look for expressions, not just a pose.  Jax has romantic expressions that conveys the emotion of an image.  Not only is she beautiful, but because of her professionalism and talent, the true beauty of the image comes out.  She makes the perfect romantic heroine!

Me:  So, Jax, let me start off by asking the question I am sure everyone wants to know and that is, why did you want to become a model?

Jax:  I always wanted to model since I was old enough to remember. I love being able to express myself in so many different ways. Modeling and acting allows me to be someone different with every gig.

Me:  You have portrayed many different types of heroines.  Is there a persona you haven’t done yet that you would like to and if you have done them all, then which persona is your favorite?

Jax:  I have done several different persona's but there are so many more I would love to do.  I started with Historical romance which I love but I think I would also like to continue and portray people of many other eras as well. A lot of choices and situations to portray. I love the challenge of them all.

Me:  Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? What are your ultimate goals?

Jax:  I see myself in 5-10 years  still Modeling and acting. I could never imagine giving up either of them. I do think the characters I play or the parts I portray may change as I grow and mature over time. Ultimately I would like to act in romantic comedies or sitcoms as well. Personally I would eventually like to get married and have a family as well.

Me:  Do you find physical good looks to be more of an asset or a hindrance? In what ways? How important is beauty? Is your eye for it standard or do you have your own definition?

Jax:  Beauty to me is much more than physical although that is part of it. To me it is a persons inner spirit that makes them attractive and their ability to reflect it outwardly which causes other people to take notice. So to me true beauty is a gift and a responsibility to use all of your gifts wisely for the betterment of yourself and those around you.

Me:  What is the most rewarding thing about modeling?

Jax:  The most rewarding thing about modeling is the feeling you get when you have nailed the shot or character perfectly as someone else has imagined it and brought a concept to life.

Me:  What advice would you give to up-and-coming models?

Jax:  Follow your heart. Listen to your inner voice to show you the way and don't let other people distract you from attaining your dreams.

And now for something silly! :-D

Me:  What is your favorite...

Dessert?   Anything with chocolate!  I'm with you on this one! :-D

Place to be?  The BeachLove the beach!

Book?  The SecretI've never read it but now it's on my TBR list!
Movie?  I have many favorites but one of them is How to Lose a guy in 10 DaysThat is such a cute movie!
Me:  What is your perfect date?

Jax:  When someone takes the time to plan something special just for you. To me it is all about the details and putting forth effort to spend time with me that makes me feel special.

Thank you, Jax!  It was so much fun getting to know you better!  Not only is Jax stunning, but she is very sweet! :-D

The "Just Right" Cover Artist

Hi all!

In recent posts I've discussed shopping around for the cover artist that best suits your style.  I cannot stress how important it is to find the right cover artist for you.  Each artist has a unique style, just like you.  If you hire someone because you're in a rush, the price is right, it's your friend, etc., you may not like your cover.  The book you have written is your baby--don't just let anyone dress it!

In order to drive my point home, I recently competed in a fantasy challenge with four other cover artists.  The theme was "Taken".  No more specifics.  The poster we created was whatever we thought or deemed would fit in the theme.  Even I was surprised at how DIFFERENT we interpreted the theme.  There is nothing the same about any of these images.  And bonus, if you visit and comment in that blog, you will have a chance to win the posters created by me and other cover artists!

Below are all the entries.  As you can see, each cover artist has a different perspective.  This is why you should ALWAYS shop around and find the artist who best suits you!

See how unbelievably different they all are?  Which is your favorite?  If you visit the blog listed below and comment under your favorite, you will have a chance to win a big poster of it!  The last day of the drawing is the last day of November, 2013.  So, go get it!
Now that you've seen the proof, be sure to shop around for the right fit!
Thank you!

A big THANK YOU to my authors!

Hi all!

I can't believe my luck!  In the past few months, I have been hired by Ellora's Cave, Total E-Bound Publishing, Blushing Books Publishing and so many great Indie authors to create their covers that I truly feel blessed!  Well, the blessings keep coming!  Samhain Publishing has also now hired me as a freelance artist!  I am so excited to be working with them!

I started off creating covers for only two clients, Skhye Moncrief and Tracy St. John.  You may have noticed that I still create covers for them!  If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be in this business.  They took a chance on an unknown artist and gave me a future.  That was a year and a half ago.  Today, I have hundreds, that's right, HUNDREDS of Indie authors who continually put their trust and faith in me to create covers they and their fans will love.  I am so proud to be a part of their lives and to have them as friends.  I truly adore all the authors who have hired me to be their cover artist and am truly blessed to call them friends.

I am continually trying to better my skills be taking online courses each week.   I will never stop trying to improve my craft because I will never stop trying to create the best possible cover I can for my clients.  Now this post is beginning to sound like a sales pitch!  LOL  Moving on...

Because of all you giving me a chance to create your covers, I have been given opportunities to create for publishers.  Without the experience you gave me, I would never have been hired by these wonderful publishing companies.  So, to all my authors, THANK YOU!

And now I must get back to work!  No more dilly-dallying on my blog!  :-D

For all you ladies out there, and men if you feel so inclined, enjoy the eye candy!

For your viewing pleasure...

Hi all!

It is my great honor to show you the first few covers from my newest clients, Ellora's Cave and Total E-Bound Publishing.  There will be more to come but I usually have to wait a few weeks before I am allowed to post the covers on my portfolio.  And because I also love my Indie clients and Blushing Books Publishing, I will also post a few of my newest creations :-)

Amazon is targeting Indie Authors and Small Presses to censor the covers

Hi all!

As a Cover Artist, I know my trade.  I know what look greats on a cover, what will attract a reader with a specific genre, and I know what each book distributor will and will not accept as a cover.  Lately, though, I have no idea what Amazon's regulations are.

Amazon has been targeting Indie Authors and Small Presses making it difficult for any of the "erotic" books to find their audience.  Amazon will not allow couples in sensual positions, lingerie, or even titles with the words "punishment", "bondage",  or other kink.

Let me get down to nitty gritty for erotica authors. If you want your cover to portray your book, you are not allowed a sexy pose.  The book will be placed in Amazon's "adult" filter and then it will be LOST in the ether.  Below you'll find covers that Amazon believed needed censored.

These are just two examples.  RAVENOUS VIRTUE was censored because you can barely make out the man's bare rump.  CARLY'S PUNISHMENT was censored because of the title and she's wearing lingerie.  These covers are not explicit.  I have seen far more revealing covers that are not being censored by Amazon.  Why?  Because Amazon targets Indie authors and small presses.  They see TWO VIRGINS CD cover by John Lennon as art and will show John Lennon's and Yoko Ono's massive bushes but they will censor the above covers.  Amazon cannot have it both ways.

That's right.  Amazon does NOT see a problem with this.  I see many problems.  In fact, I see too much.  Look it up at Amazon.  It's there and in your face.

What would you rather see?  Seriously graphic images of rock stars or very sexy covers?  Does Amazon really have the right to censor what you want to watch, read, or own?  HBO and Showtime and many other television networks show graphic nudity and they're not being censored.  So, why on earth is Amazon censoring books?  You have the right to choose and to browse.  Not be coerced into purchasing something from a larger press.  Indie authors and small presses already have a difficult time getting into the market, they don't need Amazon hiding them as well.

If you think this is wrong, send Amazon a letter stating that you do NOT want them censoring covers.  If they think certain books should be labeled as "Adult", then they should have an adult section instead of hiding the books and not telling the author that they have hidden their books because of the cover or title.

Thank you!

Expect to see many more covers gracing my blog!  And keep in mind, authors, I love hosting tours and having author interviews!

The new covers will be found under their specific tabs:  Ellora's Cave covers will be found under Ellora's Cave and Total E-Bound Covers will be found get the idea :-D  The covers will take some time to upload because both EC and TEB do not wish the covers to be posted on my portfolio until they are posted on their websites.  So, it might take a month or two before you can see my work.

The power of the magick between them can’t be avoided. But, Scott O’Hearn thinks the beautiful Taylor wolf is doing a fine job of just that —avoiding him. Will he convince Margaret she’s his true match before it’s too late?

Excerpt #20

Hallie shook her arm free. “Why are we hiding in the bathroom from a hot guy? Granted, he’s a bear. But, still a really hot guy.”
“Yes, Margaret,” Maggie started, her brow raised suspiciously. “Why are we hiding from Scott?”
“Oh, hot guy has a name?” Hallie started walking to the door.
“Stop.” Margaret sighed. “Please just help me sneak out of here.”
Hallie shrugged and pulled open the door just a hair.
“Please tell her I need to speak with her.” His deep bass voice rumbled through the thin opening, making Margaret’s whole body shiver.
Her lady parts were contemplating the horizontal mambo while the rest of her was nearing panic level. What the hell is wrong with me?
The door shut and Hallie pulled her phone out of her purse. Her fingers practically flew on the screen.
“Margaret, what is going on? Why don’t you want to talk to Scott?” Maggie leaned against the vanity countertop and crossed her arms over her chest.

Stock Images: The Pros and Cons

Hi all!

This is yet another "It has come to my attention" blog posts.  These posts have received a great deal of positive feedback in helping the author community.

Well, it has come to my attention that many authors are not well informed when it comes to stock images.  Stock images are any image that is purchased on royalty-free sites such as Dreamstime or purchased directly from model stock sites such as or

Now that you know what a stock image is, let me tell you the pros and cons when purchasing a stock image.  I will explain the "Pros" first and the "Cons" second.

1)  The image is inexpensive.  Stock images range from $2.00 to $50.00 depending on the stock site.  If you're an Indie author or just beginning, this will help financially.
2) The image can be easily manipulated by a cover artist.  Please, do not change the image yourself and add fonts from MS Word.  That is not a cover.
3) A stock image is royalty-free which means you only pay for it once but you can use it on your covers, banners, etc without having to continually pay the model, photographer, etc.

1)  A stock image is inexpensive because the photographer, model, etc makes up the cost by selling it more than once.  This means someone else will have the same image on their cover, etc.  Sometimes, the stock image looks similar to another cover.
2)  You do not OWN the stock image.  You simply have the RIGHT to place it on your cover, etc.  You cannot accuse an artist of stealing the image when they have placed it on a cover.  After all, it does not belong to you.  I have seen this a few times this past year.  I have been accused of stealing my own designs because I used stock images.  This is simply untrue and insulting.
3) I cannot stress this enough, you will see the image on other covers.  When it comes to certain images, there is only so much an artist can do to change the image.  Eventually, you will run across a cover that greatly resembles your own.  The only way you can keep this from happening is to purchase exclusive rights to an image.  Purchasing exclusive rights can be expensive.  The prices start at $250 and increase from there.

The reasons an artist can charge such low prices for a custom cover is because the artist has purchased the stock images.  If you want an exclusive custom cover without stock images, the price of your cover, including the exclusive image purchased, can start at $400 and increase from there.  Any cover less than that price will be similar to others because of the stock images.  This is why Harlequin covers never look like others--they have their own photographers and artists to either photograph new images or paint new ones.  Harlequin, and presses like them, spend great amounts of money for unique covers.

Now, that doesn't mean you won't receive a unique cover that was created with stock images--it simply means you might see those images on another cover.  Whatever you do, please do not stress out.  Remember, the stock image used is not owned by you or the artist unless you have purchased exclusive rights to it.

Here are some examples of the same stock image used, just placed on a different background.

As you can see, the models are the same but the rest is not.  Sometimes, there will even be similar set ups, but the cover is not being stolen or the design is not being copied.  As aforementioned, there are only so many ways to change a stock image.  And yet, both covers are stunning and will grab a reader's attention.  After all, that is what you want--to sell books! :-)

As a side note, neither author on the example covers has ever complained.  They're great! :-)

I hope this post has been informative and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!  Email me at edameronhill at gmail dot com

Thank you!
